This is a satirical web application. It combines the "half your age plus seven" internet rule with Ashtakoota — a traditional Vedic birth-star compatibility system — and presents the results in the aesthetic of a 2003 Indian matrimony website. This is intentional.
The site is meant to be funny. If it is not funny to you, we understand. The Nakshatra does not require your approval.
This site is not a dating app. The nav bar says this. The ticker says this. The footer says this. We are saying it again here in case you missed it three times.
This site is not a professional astrology service, a matrimonial bureau, a relationship counsellor, a certified Jyotishi, or Pandit Sharma. Pandit Sharma is a fictional character. Any resemblance to actual pandits, living or retired, is unintentional.
This site is not responsible for marriages, breakups, situationships, second dates, or the decision to show someone their Nadi dosha on the first date. Do not do that last one. We cannot stress this enough.
The Moon position calculations use the astronomia JavaScript library with an approximate Lahiri ayanamsha correction. Results are accurate to within roughly 0.1–0.2 degrees of longitude, which translates to approximately 15–30 minutes of birth time precision at Nakshatra boundaries.
The Ashtakoota scoring tables are based on standard Vedic astrology references. The Yoni compatibility uses a simplified two-tier scoring (same / neutral / enemy) rather than a full 15×15 matrix. The Tara score uses 1.5 points for half-auspicious combinations, which may produce non-integer totals. These are known simplifications made for a satirical website.
Traditional Kundali matching also considers Mangal Dosha, Dasha compatibility, navamsha charts, and the full horoscope. None of that is here. This site scores eight things and calls it a day. Do not use this to make life decisions.
The "half your age plus seven" formula is an internet rule of unknown origin, widely circulated as a guideline for age-appropriate dating. It has no scientific basis. Neither does Ashtakoota, technically, but it has been around for 3,000 years which arguably gives it more credibility than a Reddit thread.
This site enforces a minimum age of 18 for all users and all suggested partner birth windows. No results are shown for persons under 18. This is not negotiable. The planets agree.
This site collects no personal data. Full stop.
Your birth date, birth time, and place of birth are entered by you, processed entirely in your browser (via a Web Worker), and never transmitted to our servers. We do not store, log, sell, or otherwise handle your birth details. The only external network request made with your input is the city autocomplete query to api.kismat.live, which receives only your city search text.
Shareable links (the /share and /card routes) contain your computed Nakshatra index and an approximate year range — not your birth date, time, or location. Your exact birth details are never placed in a URL.
This site uses no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party advertising scripts. There is nothing to consent to because there is nothing being collected.
City search results are provided by api.kismat.live, which sources data from GeoNames. Use of this service is subject to its own terms. We are not responsible for the accuracy of city names, coordinates, or timezone data returned by this API. If it tells you Chennai is in a different timezone, it is wrong. Chennai is in Asia/Kolkata. We are confident about this one.
